A volunteer from France!

Faisal and his family took really good care of me. I only have spent 18 days there but this experience was so intense and wonderful that I feel like I was there for a month. Faisal and his family are very lovely. I really appreciated working with Faisal. He is an amazing guy, very generous,…

A volunteer from Scotland!

I stayed with Faisal and his family for one month and the experience was truly unforgettable. This was my first time to travel to Indonesia, so I was a little apprehensive about an entirely different culture. Despite this Faisal was extremely helpful and forthcoming with information before my arrival. When I arrived in Bajo Faisal…

Volunteers from Chile!

When we left Chile more than a year ago we started thinking about working with children in a volunteer program. At first, the idea of teaching a language different from our mother tongue seemed scary and too hard, but the communication with Faisal was reassuring. That´s why we decided Our Chance was the place to…

Volunteers from the UK!

We stayed with Faisal for just under a month. It was the best month ever. He is so kind and caring, and makes you feel a part of his family. He also runs an amazing English / Environmental class. His teaching is inspiring, and he helped us gain skills that we never knew we would…

Volunteer from Sweden!

I had the privilege of staying with Faisal and his great family for a bit more than a week to help out with the English lessons. First of all, as a volunteer you are taken in as a part of the family with a lot of warmth and love. We talked, played guitar, went to…

Volunteer From Spain

Faisal and his friends are the bomb. I’m really inspired by the work that they are doing in this calm little village in the heart of Nowhere, Sulawesi. Faisal’s English is dramatically good, and it’s telling that he got most of it in an autodidactic manner. The organisation of the classes and opportunities to make…

And we always try to give Learning examples that will…

Elementary Class

Elementary level class consists of an average of 13 students per class, with students ranging from 7-13 years of age.  We do not believe in purely lecturing during classes, but rather want each student to feel that learning English can be fun!  To achieve this, we always include a variety of games or songs that…

Volunteer from Germany

Hello I am Yvonne from Germany and came to Faisels place. I am so glad that I could support Faisel with his project “our chance”. It was only for a few days but I felt very welcome at his home and became very quick a family member. We cooked together and went to a camping…

Belopa Recycle Center Trip

One of the biggest obstacles when first starting our recycle program was what to do with all the recyclables once we collected them?  Luckily, a friend of mine knew of a place in Belopa, only a 15 minute drive from Bajo where recyclable materials can be dropped off.  So we decided to take a short field…

Our Recycle Program

Just beside our school we have created a space for our recycle program.  We are able to accept paper, cardboard, aluminum and other metals, plastics (only plastics with a recycle symbol on them) and glass for recycle. As part of our recycle program, we have begun to educate the students in each of our four…
